White Spruce grows in a variety of soils but is often found growing in well-drained but moist, silty soils. It has high shade tolerance and benefits from some shelter in the early establishment years. White Spruce will survive while exposed to short periods of low moisture, but will not perform well on dry sites. It has high shade tolerance and can tolerate completely shaded conditions.
